The Beta Pi Chapter was founded on November 16, 1935. Under the direction of Dr. Annie Webb Blanton, Beta Pi became the 64th chapter of the Alpha State, Texas Organization.

When Dr. Blanton came to Corpus Christi, Tx, to charter a new chapter and initiate 23 enthusiastic educators she discovered they represented a wide territory. Then and there she decided to organize TWO chapters instead of one; so the inception of Beta Pi and Beta Xi. Beta Pi became the 64th chartered chapter in Texas and has come a long way since 1935.

Two chapters expanded from Beta Pi making it the "Mother" chapter. Kappa Tau, which meets in Alice, TX, was chartered in 1974. On October 19, 2014, Mu Omega was chartered and will serve women educators from the Premont and Falfurrias, Tx area.

November 16, 2022, Beta Pi will celebrate 87 years as they continue to grow, flourish and stay true to the purposes, mission, and vision of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Twelve key women educators were chartered into The Honor Society on November 16, 1935, paving the way for all key women educators who have followed in becoming members of the Beta Pi Chapter.

As of June 2022, Mu Omega Chapter merged back with its "Mother Chapter" Beta Pi, and Kappa Tau was approved by TSO Officers to dissolve.
