DKG was founded May 11, 1929, by Dr. Annie Webb Blanton, at the Faculty Women’s Club, at the University of Texas, Austin. Dr. Blanton organized the Beta Pi Chapter on November 16, 1935.

The vision statement of the Beta Pi Chapter is to have active and involved members who continuously and enthusiastically contribute their time and talents to chapter projects and activities, thus promoting excellence in their profession and services to others while affirming their worth in the Society.

Elva G. Garcia, was initiated into the Beta Pi Chapter September, 1966, 50 years ago. Garcia has proven to be a key woman educator serving as chapter president 1994-1998, and 2012-2016.
